A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. Temples and cultivation groups can plan goals, but I do not assess helping people only through time spent and money earned. Each group has a mission. Income is part of reality without representing the whole.

Some services accept voluntary offerings, leaving time required and eventual payment unpredictable. Faith also considers merit, right intention, and what comes back, all difficult to convert into one sales figure.

My father used to say nobody does loss-making business. Yet looking back at Sheng Zhen Men, some cases did not bring corresponding compensation, though not all were like this. Deities said they would not let us be mistreated, and I have experienced the return as peace and auspiciousness rather than necessarily money. Such faith experience is difficult to enter into an income table.

Life still requires financial support. Teaching students, writing books, classes, and clients able to pay provide income. When it becomes steadier and sufficient, there is room to help people facing hardship without identical charges for everyone. This balance recognizes that helping must also consider how life is maintained.

I worry that a group seeking only income from believers may let intentions shift toward endlessly added services and exploitation. This does not mean donation-accepting temples are necessarily problematic. It reminds us to watch motives and ask whether we would still act without payment. That examines a vow, not a requirement that everyone give endlessly for free.

Looking back over twenty years brings many feelings and gratitude to deities, students, listeners, and everyone supporting us. Some shared the path and later chose differently. Leaving alone does not make them bad. What deserves my reflection is whether I continue putting stated vows into action.

If contact with Sheng Zhen Men or the Podcast offers one useful idea or reminder and supports growth, I find that valuable. Suggest questions you would like discussed. Within what I know and can answer, I willingly share. Actual benefit to people is the outcome I value most.

While working in sales, I heard a starfish story. Waves left many stranded, and someone returned them one by one. Others asked how many could be saved among so many. From another perspective, each returned starfish is one more saved. Many unreachable needs do not make the help possible here meaningless.

Recording the Podcast is similar. Focusing only on more than five hundred episodes without a million subscribers can make effort and response feel disproportionate. Yet people are listening, and some report learning and useful reminders. Other material may only later reach those who need it. Remembering these benefits gives me strength to keep sharing.
