A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Deities and Faith

How do intention, belief and collective consciousness influence how I see things?

Intention can help you see a direction clearly, know what you believe and what you want to accomplish, and then support preparation and action. However strong a wish, doing nothing cannot make the task complete itself. Before making a vow, consider what you are willing to do for others and how much you can give, then practice step by step. A teacher does not make that decision for you.

My experiences differ. I once hoped to share my book with Hsu Hsiao-shun but his assistant’s contact had changed, so I let it rest. Later at Jianguo Jade Market, I looked up and found him beside me, and we exchanged numbers. I understood that reunion as natural conditions. On another occasion I more explicitly expressed an intention to appear on a program and asked the Bodhisattva’s help. These cannot become a method guaranteeing encounters with anyone you think of.

Around thirty, beginning as a divination teacher, a practitioner claiming strong perception asked how I knew messages were divine without formal decrees or seeing deities. I could not answer then and cannot claim personal visual confirmation. I cast blocks to the Bodhisattva and Dao Ancestor for support and continued based on client feedback. Another teacher asked whether clients left stronger or more frightened. This returned attention to helping rather than being led only by one new acquaintance.

That practitioner later faced rejection in their group for frequently instructing others and sought my reading, asking how I trusted the Bodhisattva without seeing or hearing. Childhood trust and positive service feedback supported me then. These are individual experiences, not rules that spirit communicators become ill or unsuccessful or critics must be rejected. Questions remain welcome.

The story of repeated rumors that Zengzi killed someone reminds us not to discard knowledge and trust through repetition alone. Master Ji Gong also reminds us that loud certainty, even claims of never recovering, does not make reasoning sound. Confidence needs knowledge, wisdom and actual events. I value happiness and positive feedback, but happiness alone cannot prove every judgment.

Prayer, meditation and requests to deities feel to me like strengthening intention and power. This is faith experience, not a measured success rate or promise of identical encounters. Confidence supports while suspicion and fear may constrain. Keep exploring uncertainty rather than pretend understanding.

I also use collective consciousness to understand connections formed by shared long-term beliefs, customs and divine images. Not every natural phenomenon is thought-created, and misfortune cannot be blamed on a person’s negative thinking. Conditions differ. Building strength and direction through intention and acting is more grounded than demanding a result repeatedly.

The seventh lunar month illustrates collective intention. Unseen beings in our terms exist ordinarily, not suddenly only then. Long belief in opened ghost gates creates special anxiety that I understand religiously as influential, making the month seem particularly full. This is my experience of energy, not a count of monthly ghosts.

Nor are all risks imagined. Elsewhere I said people not focusing on Ghost Month may be less affected by its atmosphere, while also discussing its energy strengthening unseen conditions. Both are part of my accounts. Positive thinking cannot replace attention to water and site hazards, nor does disbelief guarantee safety.

Daily taboos also need actual context. Clothes or shadows moving at night may frighten us unnecessarily; I have said nighttime laundry has no absolute rule. Ordinary umbrellas have not collected spirits, so opening one indoors need not cause fear. Understanding collective belief explains concerns’ origins, not makes every taboo inevitable.
