A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

If a spirit communicator’s past-life account fits my present life, does that prove the story true?

Descriptions that fit life may offer reference, but cannot establish the entire past-life account as verified. I distinguish the story itself from its reminders for present life.

Early on, a teacher said I had worked in planning over several lifetimes and was therefore suited to that work now. The teacher also told a friend that the friend had been like a wealthy household’s steward, skilled in management and allocation. Comparing these descriptions with reality, I felt some abilities indeed matched and offered a little reference value.

But this did not mean I knew those past events actually occurred. Discussing it later, I said the story could not be verified, so I first considered the conclusions drawn afterwards. An explanation acceptable at first may reveal new questions as understanding increases. Room for continued thought needs to remain.

In another discussion, I described whether people felt a story matched their personality and state of mind as a matter of personal response. This must be understood alongside the earlier statement that the story cannot be verified. Resonance can begin exploration, but does not establish that an entire past life occurred. Affirmative wording in different episodes cannot erase this limit.

A divination teacher once sought help, and Dao Xuan perceived images of the moon, dragons, a palace and an energy pillar, even briefly wondering whether this came from watching too many films. After discussing it with me, I speculated from a religious context about a connection with the Moon Palace and Moon Mother. Using this to understand that client’s situation differs from verifying a history.

Asked whether the story also involved demonic temptation, I only said perhaps and explicitly stated that I had not seen that part. We cannot add such an experience merely to complete the story. The person’s love of looking at the moon and responses to descriptions can remain, but what is unknown or speculative must remain so too. An affecting story should not be filled out as certainty.

I have also heard another teacher explain past-life violation as the connection underlying a present marriage. I no longer remember the details, but found the explanation unacceptable then. Calling a story past-life karma cannot make its harm seem justified. Resonating with some descriptions differs from accepting all the person’s interpretations.
