A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Work and Money

If good performance makes your supervisor keep adding work, must you simply treat it as training?

If the workload truly exceeds your capacity, communicate with your supervisor rather than only tell yourself to endure. Assignments may reflect trust in your ability rather than bullying, but overload also needs clear recognition. Consider both together.

Sometimes before knowing a supervisor's thoughts, we have already imagined much: why me again, do they dislike me, why not someone else? Another possibility is that they entrust work to your ability. Do not conclude they are making life difficult based only on guesses.

The other situation does occur too: because you perform well, work continually comes to you while colleagues in the same role are less burdened. If it exceeds a normally manageable load, explain it. Defining that limit is not simple and requires examining actual work and task distribution. 'More work brings blessings' cannot brush the difficulty aside.

Take responsibility for your own duties and complete them well, while clearly explaining needed adjustments. Whether a supervisor likes you can also involve personal connections, not diligence alone. Spiritually, I encourage care for energy, attitude, and approach, but workplace problems can still be faced and discussed.

I also know the feeling of finishing one task only for another to arrive. As Sheng Zhen Men expanded from a small space, I kept imagining the current busy period would end in greater ease. Instead, larger premises and more visitors brought more work. Circumstances sometimes push growth this way; completing present tasks does not remove all future challenges. This experience does not conflict with communicating when work exceeds capacity.
