A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Does quiet agreement and constant accommodation mean genuine acceptance?

Not speaking or arguing and accommodating someone does not necessarily mean acceptance. Outward agreement while inwardly unable to move past something is closer to suppressing yourself.

Some sacrifice in relationships hoping for mutual well-being, only to find they alone keep giving. Saying yes while distressed does not transform unhappiness. Family silence likewise does not establish absence of problems.

Acceptance requires honestly examining discomfort. Have you genuinely understood and released it, or are you afraid to express it? Practice requires self-knowledge. Hiding feelings does not prove broad-mindedness.

This does not mean caring only for yourself and never cooperating. Relationships still need balance. You may choose when genuinely unwilling, while bearing consequences. Understanding needs and responsibility for choices belong together.
