A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Communicating with spirits or having popular videos does not make every statement correct. Speaking loudly or continually scolding cannot replace reasoning. Greater understanding should bring greater humility.

A religious-supply shop assistant described feeling comfortable with some teachers and impatient with others. Though not a spirit communicator, the assistant noticed complexion and interaction. But these are initial observations. People have different natural skin colors; a face or one uncomfortable encounter cannot establish righteousness or evil.

Great love also involves understanding people’s mistakes and limited wisdom, rather than responding only with emotional blame. We cannot control what others say online. We can learn more and develop judgment instead of believing everything because of a title.

Nor should one or two imperfect incidents permanently define someone. Teachers are not perfect in every area. Consider their principal character, teachings, and willingness to correct errors. Willingness to change differs from using titles and forcefulness to hide problems. When speaking passionately, I also remind people that my raised voice does not automatically make me right.

Ask about statements you do not understand and hear the explanation. I welcome discussion and explain my reasons and distinctions. Being a deity’s spokesperson does not automatically make every sentence correct. YOYO also reminded formal disciples to be cautious: without the full picture, raise questions rather than treating partial knowledge as complete and rushing to conclusions.

When someone reports perceptions or images, explore what they actually sensed rather than accepting everything. Discussing related research, I asked whether claims of sensing a Bodhisattva had been followed by inquiry into what was truly contacted. In my cultivation experience, understanding energy and divine virtue helps judgment. Recording a description differs from truly establishing understanding.

Sometimes we trust forceful people because we do not want to judge for ourselves. Recalling early teachers, I too found it easier to listen to someone outspoken and decisive. Later I understood more deeply that such ease cannot replace examining whether their words make sense.

A spirit-communicating teacher once opposed reading Buddhist scriptures, but I continued. I listened to reasonable, worthwhile parts of the teaching. Where I disagreed, I could respect that person’s view without abandoning my own judgment. Learning means neither rejecting a person entirely nor accepting every word because some qualities inspire admiration.
