For relatives’ rites, I value family wishes and connection. Deceased personalities and households differ, so repeating one procedure cannot fit all. Family presence allows explanation and communication. Some did not know Sheng Zhen Men or its deities in life, but recognize their family, making that bond important.

In cases I encountered, lack of awareness or family participation limited the strength available, so I generally hope family attends. This is experience and faith understanding, not proof that any absence makes every rite wholly unhelpful.

A case involving an unborn sibling was difficult to bring to completion. The mother later came, explained past hardships and apologized, after which willingness to let go developed. Sometimes family must personally clarify the actual attachment. This case cannot establish the same issue whenever someone feels unloved by parents.
