This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. Calling the Golden Mother of the Jade Pool the “mother of the soul” concerns life’s source within spiritual faith. Parents nurture this lifetime’s physical body, while the Mother is understood as mother of the soul. These describe different relationships.

I introduced a creation story in which primordial qi moves through stages, becoming the Three Pure Ones, followed by the Five Elders representing elemental powers and cooperating to nurture life. The first stage uses alchemical refinement to explain the elements’ operation. The second joins the Eastern King Father’s yang and Western Golden Mother’s yin, leading to the infant and maiden story. In that faith context, they are spiritual father and mother.

Five Mothers systems may have different origins across temples. Our five also relate to my personal connections. Identify which system is being discussed rather than equate different names and contexts.

Human family joy can also explain this closeness. At one birthday celebration for the Mother, Master Ji Gong discussed divine love through care between grandparents, parents and children. A peach cake with small peaches inside a large one evoked the Mother’s protection. Such comparison goes beyond remembering a title to understanding care and love to learn.

I also describe her kindness through a mother urging a lost child home. This spiritual faith sees a close connection with beings, using familiar mother-child relationships to explain why she helps.

This comparison aids faith understanding. It does not mean every family has identical maternal relationships or allow all religious origins to merge through a mother title. Knowing the transmission helps clarify the kindness described.
