Can tarot interpretation involve mediumship, and must cards always be drawn?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
Tarot can combine with mediumship, but not every reader uses the same method. Already providing chess readings, I once tried tarot. Watching the reader serve others, I saw them draw three cards before interpretation. Yet after my question she said drawing was unnecessary: because she was connected with the cards, simply stating the question let her know the answer. I felt this resembled mediumship.
I have forgotten the question but remember finding the answer fairly accurate. Later I indirectly heard that her grandmother might have done temple work and wondered about a family connection. That was hearsay and speculation, not confirmation of an inherited rule. It also cannot be merged with Dao Shun's separate account of his grandmother's spirit vision as though they were one family.
This is only one method I encountered, not proof that avoiding cards is more advanced. Piece images sometimes flash in my mind too, but I still turn physical pieces during service to make the process more objective and available for comparison. Understand how a teacher interprets, rather than judge solely by the tool on the table.
