Divination and Guidance
Are basic chess definitions enough to interpret every reading, and how do Fu Mo principles help?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
Basic definitions help begin reading a layout, but good interpretation still requires experience. Fu Mo principles aim to explain complexity simply, supporting thought and response when things happen and reminding us about cultivation and life.
Each piece has meanings and principles. Dao Shan likes this clarity and a framework that lets even less experienced learners begin considering advice through definitions. Yet practice must place pieces within actual questions. The same piece cannot mean saying the same sentence about everyone’s situation.
Dao Shun said clear chess definitions can first be explained to clients, preventing interpretation from resting only on the teacher’s authority. Having tried and studied different divination, he values explanation, and I agree that people should understand while inspiration and perceptions may affect interpretation.
Dao Shun also encountered a teacher without obvious spirit communication who interpreted through transmitted methods and still seemed accurate. Accuracy therefore cannot be declared possible only through spirit communication. His idea of statistics was speculation about experience, not completed scientific verification.
I understand inspiration for these principles as divine help, not proof of uniqueness or a reason to call other tools vague. Learn each piece’s meaning, accumulate experience through questions, then apply the principles in life. That is the intended direction.
