Deities and Faith
Why do ceremonial altars and procedures need a coherent arrangement?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
Altars and procedures should connect rather than each operate separately. At one ceremony, the organiser handled every altar and arrangement, and companions also felt greater consistency instead of confusing energetic pulls in different places. I understood this through energy interaction and the connected opening, development, transition and conclusion of work.
Compare washing and waxing a car: someone finishes washing, but the next person does not know and applies foam again. Or two people use different waxes and methods independently, working a long time without completion. More people are not inherently bad. The issue is not knowing previous and next steps while methods may conflict.
A ceremony is similar. If those responsible for stages each think differently, the flow may not connect. One coordinating organisation can better oversee the sequence. This was my reflection from that ceremony, reminding us of context and coordination, not rejecting all division of labour or guaranteeing identical results through uniform form.
