Deities and Faith
Why does seeking wealth require more than prayer?

Seeking wealth and replenishing a spiritual treasury also require personal intention and action. Ceremonies, treasure bowls, and fortune-enhancing objects are faith methods we have discussed, not purchases guaranteed to change fortunes as expected.
I have used accumulation to explain long worship of a treasure bowl and returning it for blessings. That is our service experience, not a profit formula. Earlier flower teas or eyebrow shaping for fortune also had their historical contexts, not necessarily current availability or guarantees of health and wealth.
To improve life, work seriously and examine excessive insistence and fulfilled responsibilities. Ritual may support and strengthen without replacing competence. Failure does not mean insufficient purchases. Understand purpose and your role to avoid increasing anxiety and dependence through requests.
You may pray for smoother work and helpful people, but increased income still requires competent employment or business. Expecting instant riches from workings or rituals makes it easy to hear only promised benefits and overlook whether methods and costs are reasonable. Do not abandon your responsibilities.
I compare this with a boss promoting staff. Doing nothing while waiting for support differs from making efforts and temporarily meeting difficulty. Examine action rather than assuming one sum of money solves life. Gratitude and helping others after receiving help allow goodwill to continue.
Job searches require suitable vacancies, applications, and interviews. I have joked that you cannot wait at home for the Bodhisattva to introduce you in an employer’s dream and have a company seek you out. Faith supports you; preparation and the first step remain yours.
A client who became an employer thought paying staff and delegating meant an easy life. Unsuitable employees repeatedly made mistakes. Although he kept seeking wealth, I felt staffing and management needed examination first. Running a shop requires understanding products, costs, and methods. Decoration and staff attendance do not naturally guarantee profit.
Service at a temple should not be calculated as so many months in exchange for money. Cleaning with a wish for others’ pure, comfortable space practices considering others. Religiously, good connections may accumulate, but two months of sweeping do not entitle you to a specified sum.
Do not measure help only by immediately receiving money. I relayed Master Ji Gong’s analogy that deities assist where needed after your own efforts, rather than award full marks for prayer without action. Adding ten to fifty illustrates this, not fixed extra points for every blessing.
Also consider your work when seeking wealth. Serious operation of a legitimate business through difficulty differs from disguising fraud as investment help. Sharing benefits also includes ideas, joy, and concern, not only donations. This concerns prayerful intention and ordinary action, not guaranteed wealth proportional to donations.
