A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Character divination considers a character’s form, meaning and sound together with the question being asked. We cannot focus on one component and give everyone writing that character the same destiny. When I speak of intuition and spiritual connection, I do not mean saying whatever comes to mind. We still need to explain clearly how the interpretation relates to the person’s problem.

Miao Li enjoys language and gradually developed methods combining character and chess divination through practice. This is her learning and expertise, not my experience. It does not make every character-divination system identical. Understand each tool’s contexts, strengths and limits separately.

Establish a foundation first, then accumulate cases and feedback. A character reminding you of illness, litigation or a past event does not immediately make it fact. Divination should help people understand and find direction, not control them through one character. These are introductory ideas; complete procedures and specific character examples still require formal teaching. A few shared passages cannot supply an entire set of rules.

When Miao Li began, she wanted fifty cases before certification to feel more grounded. I encouraged her, and she later accumulated more. Fifty was her short-term target then. What mattered was actual use, preserved experience and feedback, not automatically becoming a character diviner at that number.

A mother asked about work and parenting simultaneously. Miao Li separated them and explained one at a time. For work, she advised a team to share duties and planned rest, estimating roughly half a year. At six months the client reported being able to take regular leave. This was that service and feedback, not a formula accurate for every question.

The story of Xie Shi illustrates context when adding characters. Being escorted by jailers suggested 卒, which combined with his surname 石 to form 碎, broken. Learning the escort’s surname 皮 allowed 破, also meaning broken. The point is why that person, rather than an unrelated passerby, supplies a component. I also said the story’s origin may be unreliable. It illustrates a method, not identical outcomes for everyone writing 石.

Miao Li repeated character-divination classes. Some content overlapped but brought new understanding each time. Prior Yijing study suggested links between character elements and hexagrams. Asking me afterward, she learned such approaches existed and could be tried. Further practice gradually clarified direction. Related tools do not remove actual learning.
