A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Serving people uses time, attention and physical strength. Divine support does not permit endless work without rest. Discussing energy exchange and depletion reminds helpers to care for themselves to sustain help for others.

In our religious experience, recitation, merit dedication and extended services may consume different amounts. Sensitive people may notice sooner; little obvious feeling does not mean no influence. Addressing cold yin energy while depleted may bring headache, sleepiness or discomfort. These symptoms cannot establish the same cause in everyone, and willpower alone should not force endurance.

Prior condition matters with the same contact. Religiously, I say stronger fortune and energy may make small losses less noticeable, while low condition makes them more apparent. This is no fixed formula or invitation to explore dangers when feeling strong. Curiosity about ghosts or deities differs from ability to withstand contact. Small probability figures used in discussing high-frequency energy and belief were illustrative, not measured harm rates.

Long contact with others’ difficulties requires fundamentals, understanding transformation, help and daily care. Know what you can do and when to refer or ask. Recognizing limits does not prevent helping within ability.

One report or story cannot establish that revealing heavenly secrets causes early death or charging a fee transfers all a client’s karma. Understand actions, motives and personal circumstances, and care for health. Helping should not use karmic responsibility to frighten people.

After some services, depletion is small and recitation, meditation or spirit movement feels restorative. With greater depletion I genuinely need sleep. This is personal experience, not a universal fatigue scale. Recovery requires willingness to rest rather than doing more exercises without letting the body stop.

Greater ability does not remove caution. My comparison of white paper stained black reminds energy workers not to assume good condition prevents influence. At Sheng Zhen Men this work requires years of training and learning. Willingness to contribute still needs assessment of present capacity.

Dao Xuan and I discussed feeling hungry after rites and home services even when previously full, and eating again. That describes actual work-related depletion. Yet I recalled no particular hunger or fatigue after receiving deities, understanding this through a distinction between divine blessing and personal exertion in ritual. Keep both experiences separate. My response cannot become everyone’s standard.

I heard another school say adjusting feng shui uses the teacher’s blessings to replenish clients, limiting lifetime cases. That was their account; I no longer remember whether three or five. I agree more with my own feng shui teacher: understanding directions and energy helps people use existing conditions between heaven and earth, which differs from directly paying with one’s own blessings.

On revealing heavenly secrets, I wonder how a teacher could know something truly forbidden to know. This is my reflection, not a determination of every diviner’s karma. In work involving karmic creditors or breaking harmful sorcery, I still allow possibilities of grievances and responsibilities requiring transformation. I have not said all work has absolutely no influence.

Early on I freely supported a debt-ridden friend with long daily conversations and constant concern. One night I dreamed I had become him and was pursued for debts, waking deeply stressed. Later I learned boundaries and asked him to use time finding work and addressing life. I religiously understood accumulated negative energy, but a dream cannot prove his actual debts transferred to me.

I have also said, through compassion and great vows, right action receives positive strength rather than depleting personal energy. Elsewhere, discussing ceremonies and merit dedication, I explicitly described tiredness and need for sleep. These are understandings from different topics. Retaining only “no depletion” must not deny real fatigue.

I later began keeping Mondays as a regular rest day because disciples reminded me that work also needs time to stop. When helping, vows, divine assistance and the body’s need for rest all deserve serious attention. Being tired does not alone prove a lack of compassion or wrongdoing.

I also discussed visiting cemeteries compassionately to help unseen beings yet still being affected by a cold yin environment. In my religious understanding, this need not mean deliberate harm from them. Good intentions require understanding environment and ability, not assuming immunity.
