Deities and Faith
If deities want peace, why can they not simply stop war?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
We can pray for peace without leaving war entirely for deities to resolve. Human affairs involve many people. The thinking of those starting war and their willingness to relinquish conflict affect outcomes. Divine wishes for safety do not mean one ritual instantly changes everyone who clings to their position.
I used hypothetical numbers when discussing this: everyone hoping for peace differs from only a few praying while many desire revenge. Those numbers illustrated a point, not a formula where reaching a certain number of people guarantees an end to war.
However, I do not want people to conclude one person has no strength. With firm faith and regular practice, you can recite scriptures and sacred names, sincerely hope for peace, and dedicate merit to those affected. Visualizing more good forces helping is a religious exercise, not proof that a thought makes war stop as desired.
Understand practical limits while contributing the care you can. Civilian suffering is painful regardless of side. Concern, blessings, and continued clear attention to what can actually be done keep us from placing all responsibility on deities.
