A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Does a blood moon or lunar eclipse coinciding with an earthquake establish causation?

The natural phenomenon of a lunar eclipse and folk accounts of blood moons need separate understanding. Discussing eclipses, I first mentioned refraction and scattering of light and clearly said folk explanations have no direct connection to physics. Placing them together does not prove a blood moon brings disasters.

From my faith perspective, I pay attention to conditions during that period and remind people not to let emotions become too unsettled. Those concerned can reduce outings. But I also said people with firmer will may be affected differently. Not everyone is alike, and going outside certainly does not guarantee trouble.

When someone later shared earthquake news, I made a religious association too. This was my perspective, not verification that an eclipse caused an earthquake. Retain appropriate judgment with such accounts rather than turning a reminder into a prediction that keeps you worried all day.
