A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Will mocking wealthy people make me equally rich?

Advice not to mock cannot be reversed into a wealth-attraction method. We discussed an online reminder not to ridicule others’ situations because we may face them later. It teaches treatment of people, not transformation into whomever we mock.

People used irony to mock the rich for earning too much or attractive people for living on looks, as though the same advantages would then come to them. The comments may be funny, but recognise that the original advice has become a different joke.

My concern is whether repeated humour makes us forget boundaries. Children still learning discernment should not think mockery is merely fun while another is hurt. Understanding humour also requires knowing how we treat people. Enjoyment should not obscure the original lesson.
