January 1 is also suitable for a visit and worship. Traditional spring visits mainly occur at Lunar New Year, but people now also see the calendar year as a fresh start. Approaching deities and offering blessings then is good for believers.

I observed religious groups and temples arranging January 1 prayers and lamps. This reflects change over time, not identical arrangements everywhere. That year we also planned to attend a divine birthday celebration at a familiar temple, offering congratulations and taking an outing to encounter positive energy.

January visits and Lunar New Year visits can each express intentions. Treating a new year as another beginning and going with blessings need not be prohibited because Lunar New Year has not arrived.
