A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Divination and Guidance

If two people draw the same divination lot, does that mean they face the same problem?

Not necessarily. The same lot may carry different points of emphasis in different circumstances. An identical number does not mean both people’s problems and reminders are entirely the same.

In Sheng Zhen Men’s experience of interpreting lots, I consider the person’s circumstances, the poem and the perceptions arising at the time together. Sometimes the emphasis is the first line, sometimes the second, third or fourth, and sometimes the story behind the poem. We seek to understand how the reminder relates to this person and question, rather than apply one interpretation of the whole poem to everyone.
