Earth Mother statues have different postures. Some sit on the globe, some stand on it, and others hold it in their hands. Each form expresses something, but differing postures do not mean the deities being worshipped are unrelated to each other.

A concrete divine image makes it easier for people to relate and understand. The Mother Goddess's kind expression, for instance, brings a mother's love to mind. Images of the Earth Mother with the globe suggest the earth nurturing and nourishing living beings. Besides looking at a statue's appearance, consider what virtues it expresses.

When discussing these Earth Mother forms, I have also said that their details may convey somewhat different impressions, but their fundamental energetic nature remains connected. They all express the earth. Returning to this central point and appreciating nurturing, support, and love helps us move beyond differences in posture alone.
