If we already love each other, why remind ourselves not to keep postponing our future?

Life and relationships change, so we cannot continually assume the same opportunity will remain later. Having someone beside us whom we love and who loves us makes it all the more important to cherish the time to be together and move forward together.

Discussing Anita Mui’s farewell concert, I was especially moved by her wish to wear a wedding dress of her own. From that sharing, I felt she wanted more than wearing clothing on stage: she wanted someone to accompany and support her in a relationship. She also discussed regret over missed opportunities and reminded people to cherish a mutually loving partner while they have one.

So when discussing living together or marriage, my reminder is not to keep assuming that putting it off makes no difference. After that time passes, both people’s circumstances may have changed. Look back at whether you cherish the relationship that matters to you and give love attention now. Do not wait until the opportunity is lost before repeatedly wishing you had acted differently.
