A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

No. Sexual violence is not the survivor’s disgrace. Shame belongs to the perpetrator’s harmful behavior. We must not reverse responsibility and burden an already injured person with humiliation.

We read words supporting survivors on the program. I strongly agreed and admired willingness to speak for those harmed. This must be clear: suffering harm should not bring shame. Shame belongs with the abusive act, not the survivor.
