A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Start by arranging a stopping time so work and rest are distinct. Being at home does not mean work has ended. If you keep answering messages and thinking about unfinished tasks at night, your mind remains at work.

Miao Yuan had a friend in media sales who felt work and personal life crowded into the same place at home. Work originally ended at eight, but tasks continued afterward and quality of life suffered. She suggested personal rules or a small ritual to signal that this time was for rest, so thoughts did not constantly revolve around work.

However, different jobs naturally have different hours. I added that some follow fixed nine-to-five schedules, while media work is more complex and less predictable. Rest arrangements still need to consider actual working conditions.

Work when it is time to work and allow rest when it is time to rest. Do not wait until the body can no longer bear the load before caring for it. People need both movement and stillness. Sleep lets the body slow down and restore energy for the next day.
