A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Relating differently from childhood does not necessarily mean people no longer care. Each person has work, a partner and a family of their own. Schedules and thoughts may change. We cannot require everyone to maintain childhood life forever.

I have two younger brothers. We were very close as children, and I once thought it should remain the same after growing up. Only later did I understand that, with each of us having our own life, many things truly would not remain unchanged. There is a little regret, which also makes me want to cherish the time we can still spend together.

Sometimes fewer meetings reflect work, transport and life pressures, not simply a lack of care. Do what you can. Even without meeting, calls, video chats and messages can let family know how you are and help you understand how they are living.

So do not judge whether someone still holds a family member in their heart only by how often they meet. With different conditions in adulthood, maintain care in ways possible now. Living far apart does not prevent hearts from remaining close.

Talking with my brother Andy, I have also said that, although we work separately in Taipei and Taichung and sometimes meet only every few months, family still feels like family. From childhood, our parents taught us to treasure the connection of becoming brothers rather than calculate every matter precisely. Now that we each have our own family, preserving that affection is something I deeply cherish.
