A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

A temple willing to teach goodness and discourage harm is more than a worship location. It supports learning and offers help. I compare such a temple to a base influencing people nearby and then more widely toward goodness.

As a child, I saw rural temples where people cooled off, chatted, and elders gathered. Besides seeking protection, people spent time with relatives and friends and felt reassured. Temples therefore also connect people in local life.

In faith terms, respect for Heaven and Earth and awareness of divine observation can remind people not to harm others casually. This is how I understand religion settling hearts and influencing life. But many temples and worshippers do not establish that everyone has already improved.

What matters is what a place teaches and leads people to do. Encouraging good deeds, virtue, and steadier hearts through education and companionship is what I especially value.
