You do not have to know how to visualize before using it. When introducing this purification spray from our school, we explained that you can combine it with visualization when convenient. If you are busy at work, the situation is urgent, or you cannot bring an image to mind, you can simply spray it.
In that demonstration, we sprayed once above the head and once above each shoulder, allowing the mist to fall. If adding visualization, you can imagine golden light showering down or the Bodhisattva’s pure water bathing you. An unclear mental image does not mean you cannot use the spray.
Because the product itself has already been blessed, its power remains even when you do not visualize at the same time. Visualization is something you can combine with its use, rather than a skill you must first acquire.
We also gave a particular warning at the time: do not drink the spray. It is intended for spraying. Discussing its blessing does not make it something that can be drunk.
