Does becoming a deity’s medium mean being that deity reincarnated?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
No. Being a medium means connecting with a deity and conveying or expressing corresponding energy. It does not mean the person is that deity’s original being reincarnated.
I am Master Ji Gong’s medium, not his reincarnation. I remain human and practising, needing to do my work and strive toward higher understanding. Connection has not made my everyday self a deity.
Having learned a deity’s method or having affinity also differs from being the deity. Like teacher and student, a good student may develop similar qualities but remains a separate person. Learning principles and attuning to energy differ from being the great deity.
A Bodhisattva truly descending for beings would be extraordinary. But in my actual experience, such missions are extremely rare, almost never encountered. Perceptions or mediumship cannot directly establish the deity’s own descent as that person.
Remember a spokesperson remains a person in practice. Learning divine thinking and cultivating toward fruition are our tasks. Treating the medium directly as a deity overlooks continuing human needs for correction and learning.
