Starting Spiritual Practice
How can I share my faith with friends without making them feel pressured by a sales pitch?

First apply what you have learned to yourself, so that people can see changes through their interactions with you. Sharing from there is more convincing than continually emphasising that you are a spiritual practitioner. Wanting a friend to live better is well-intentioned, but pushing too hard and repeatedly demanding acceptance may create pressure and discourage further interest.
Dao Xuan has discussed people who enthusiastically introduce their group while considering their own views superior and others ignorant or narrow-minded. What began as an attempt to help ends up feeling like a sales pitch. I have also encountered students who took the initiative to promote Sheng Zhen Men. Their intention was good, but their excessive enthusiasm put people off. I had not asked them to do that.
I hope family and friends can genuinely feel a change in you through everyday life. When, after knowing you, they willingly want to learn more or join in learning, that trust has substance. Spiritual practice does not need repeated claims about how impressive you are. Your everyday treatment of others is the most direct introduction.
My younger brother Andy encounters different clients at work and sometimes shares ideas he has heard from me during conversation. When someone asks of their own accord, he introduces what he knows and leaves a business card. I think this is a way to share the teachings in ordinary life: begin with real interactions and matters people can discuss comfortably, giving those interested another opportunity to learn.
