A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

You cannot conclude that you have progressed merely because your movements change or sensations grow stronger. Once you notice a difference, the next task is to understand where the change comes from and the present energy condition, rather than immediately draw a conclusion about yourself.

Dao Xuan shared that from joining onward, whenever her energy felt unusual, she would immediately discuss it with me. Remembering guidance and raising something that feels wrong is a different attitude from seeing new movements and assuming greater ability. Willingness to ask allows continued understanding of what you are experiencing.

In our experience, we also need to distinguish the original spirit’s movement from outside influence. Sometimes actual interaction and resonance with fellow practitioners help us understand, like experienced dancers sensing each other’s rhythm. This requires learning and personal experience; one new movement cannot clarify everything. Ask an experienced teacher when unsure rather than regard every change as improvement.
