A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

A shared goal does not necessarily need a rigid completion deadline. When calling for a million recitations, we hoped people would willingly join and continue, rather than produce an attractive number or compete over speed.

We did initially consider a date. But reciting from fear of falling behind differs from sincere commitment. We therefore chose greater freedom for people to contribute through their own wishes and accumulate together. I felt this could be more powerful.

Watching progress together can strengthen confidence and motivation. I value those who recite daily, whether many times or few. Willing daily practice itself deserves learning from and develops focus and persistence.

A goal that feels impossibly high may prevent even trying. Shared recitation aims to make beginning easier, with companionship giving further motivation. Only actual participation gradually brings personal understanding.
