This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. Is saying energy comes “from the universe” sufficiently clear when invoking it?

In Sheng Zhen Men’s approach, simply requesting energy from the universe is not sufficiently clear. The universe is vast. Know where the requested force comes from and what kind of energy it is. I regard an unclear source as risky.

Whatever the name—deity, higher spirit, or something else—the source needs understanding. Dao Jing relayed a friend’s colleague receiving deities to help people, but the friend had not asked in detail and much remained unclear. Hearing such an account alone does not make me declare it wrong. We still need to understand the person’s ordinary faith, whom they contact, and how they learn and judge.

When discussing reliance on one source, we want clear origins for faith and learning. Asking Sheng Zhen Men’s deity for help means knowing the place and deity approached and learning the deity’s character. In my experience, clear names and sources also make possible impersonating energies easier to discern.
