A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. Does a ghost in a doll necessarily mean a horror-film evil spirit or great demon?

They cannot be treated as the same thing. Even if an unseen being approaches an object, our religious understanding does not automatically make it a thoroughly evil film spirit. First examine what the story actually says.

A doll news story relayed a medium’s claim that a little boy’s soul was inside. Miao Nian asked why innocent children attracted evil spirits. I replied that the report described a child, not a great demon. Thinking of dolls must not import an entire horror plot.

Not being so evil differs from suitability for long-term contact. In my faith, living people and unseen deceased beings still need distinction. If we genuinely encounter this, we pursue purification and departure, not keeping the being as a household playmate.

This explains how we understood that report. Owning a doll or a child talking to toys does not establish the same event at home. Fear from films cannot directly judge your possessions.
