A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

It is not pretending not to see, or inward distress suppressed into silence. Understand present events first, then practice not letting the heart remain continually pulled by them.

I compare acceptance: endurance alone is not necessarily acceptance, which requires understanding. Likewise, seeing animals awaiting slaughter means recognizing their circumstances, not denial. Examine how you understand and face those feelings.

Some situations cannot be changed immediately. Retain concern and compassion while learning not to remain immersed in heavy emotions. Calm after understanding differs from pretending ignorance.
