Yes. You do not need to wait for great literary accomplishment before considering yourself qualified to begin. Still, knowing more characters and reading more help someone become a deeper teacher. Beginning and mastery are different stages.
I teach largely through pictorial forms and the appearance of characters, and also adding and subtracting components. I want complex matters explained simply so people understand and use them, rather than hear elegant language and still not know how to begin.
Even unfamiliar characters can be explored through shapes and feelings at that moment, but corresponding methods remain to be learned. Earnest study and actual practice differ from hearing “you can read without knowing characters” and assuming no study is necessary.
Interest that encourages further learning is good. Ultimately, however, ask whether learning helps you see problems clearly and apply understanding in life, rather than only make others think you are impressive.
