A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. I have experienced understanding some circumstances without a written character. But then I was using perception, not only analyzing writing. These two situations need distinction.

In a past class, I asked everyone to write a character for practice. One participant did not want to write. I replied that a reading was still possible. What I sensed concerned what the person wished to express in that setting and why writing was difficult. I later explained that this was actually a perception-based approach.

Character divination still has written structure, analysis and methods to learn. The example shows a person’s state is not expressed only in completed writing. It does not mean beginners can ignore methods and directly answer without understanding anything.
