A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. I explain the difference through ‘repairing leaks’ and ‘increasing what comes in.’ Replenishing the wealth treasury aims to address places where money is easily lost or cannot be retained. Attracting wealth asks for more helpful people, sources of income and opportunities. Their emphasis is not quite the same.

When introducing Sheng Zhen Men’s prosperity ceremony, I used the image of Master Ji Gong sewing up a hole in a pocket to explain replenishing wealth. You may already have income, but the money keeps leaking away. It is like putting money into a torn pocket and still being unable to keep it, so we first need to examine which places need mending.

For the Martial God of Wealth’s work of attracting wealth, I used the example of starting with one hundred thousand and hoping to increase it to one hundred and twenty thousand or one hundred and fifty thousand. This expresses the wish for greater financial fortune. The figures help explain the difference. They cannot be treated as a promise that everyone attending the ceremony will receive the same increase in income.

When someone asked which of the two to choose, I said at the time that joining both would be more complete, explaining the relationship as first mending the pocket and then attracting wealth. But after praying for wealth, we must still make our own efforts and examine our existing methods. If problems in spending and handling affairs remain unchanged, we cannot merely expect a ceremony to arrange our entire future life for us.
