A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Good intentions are welcome, but act within capacity. Examine your mental, physical, and emotional state, and distinguish close people from a large accident known only through news. Willingness matters, while the amount possible still depends on ability.

Parents, family, close friends, and pets have close connections with you. Praying for divine help and dedicating recitation for them is possible. Yet rest if already tired. When low, first use practice to care for yourself rather than rush to bear others' burdens.

Sensitive people should notice reactions. A student recited the Medicine Buddha Sutra for an unwell relative and later reported strong discomfort too. In my energy understanding, sensitivity and the other's condition may relate. Not everyone responds this way, and cases differ.

Physical discomfort needs a doctor's assessment rather than self-diagnosis. If unclear experiences follow recitation or dedication, explain the sequence and explore handling. Do not frighten yourself before beginning.

I also affirm kindness toward unrelated accident victims in news, while asking people to assess their condition. Join temple or group chanting, donate, or help otherwise. Personal dedication is not universally forbidden; reassess and adjust if it feels unsuitable.

Like an injured person caring for another injured person, available strength is limited. Helping does not require taking everything on at once. Act according to capacity and first care for your state to judge current suitability clearly.

You need not achieve perfect practice before helping family. For someone drawn to cultivation through bereavement, I suggest feasible recitation and dedication while continuing study. This differs in degree from independently undertaking large deliverance and promising every deceased person's destination.

YOYO's sadness while handling a roadside kitten's remains reflected natural compassion. I affirmed helping rather than calling it improper karmic interference. Notice your state afterward and avoid prolonged oppressive grief. Willing feasible kindness differs from accepting every task regardless of ability.

For parents, fear of bearing something need not mean doing nothing. I affirmed a child's wish to dedicate and suggested that any genuine burden could be understood through gratitude and repayment. That parent-child reminder does not establish every later discomfort as carrying a parent's burden. Personal condition and needed care still require clear assessment.
