Deities and Faith
Does similar energy between Mary and Guanyin mean they are the same being?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
I describe Mary and Guanyin’s energy as similar through loving warmth, like a mother’s care. This does not determine divine identities for two religions. Similar feelings do not merge different faiths’ names, histories, and teachings.
As a child, Dao Xuan heard Mary’s stories through a Catholic aunt and received pictures and rosary beads, leaving a feeling of closeness. After Buddhist and Taoist contact, that kindness seemed close to Guanyin’s.
I have also sensed a warm angel-like figure radiating white light despite my Eastern religious background. Through faith, this suggested true divinity need not be restricted by national borders. Religion should bring freedom and peace. Respecting goodwill conveys this account better than urgently arguing which identity must equal another.
