In my faith understanding, forests are not only recreational spaces for humans but may also be homes for other beings. I discuss moshenzai in the context of mountain spirits and local spiritual beings. Enter unfamiliar places respectfully, without provocation or bravado.

However, such beings make up a relatively small proportion of Sheng Zhen Men’s cases. Some animal-like images I understand as concrete expressions of negative energy rather than all one kind of creature. The name moshenzai cannot explain every mountain discomfort.

Dao Xuan and I shared experiences of thick mountain fog and discussed protective boundaries religiously. That was our understanding of feelings then. Poor visibility and unfamiliar surroundings remain genuine practical concerns. I am not a professional mountaineer and would not turn every legend into universal safety rules.

I still support exercise, while recommending designated trails, familiar routes, and guides who know the way when needed. Do not enter unknown places merely for adventure. Prayer before departure offers religious support, while routes, terrain, and weather changes still need serious understanding. Respecting mountains includes admitting unfamiliarity.

Even without ancestral-spirit faith, do not dismiss local sacred places and taboos. Take warnings about prohibited areas seriously rather than merely testing courage. We have religious observations about ancestral and mountain spirits, but one vaguely remembered disappearance story cannot establish the same cause for every lost person.

Later, discussing the girl in red, I also suggested image quality, copying, and lighting might affect the video, which did not necessarily show a spirit. Reports of mountain disappearances also included terrain and poor visibility as explanations. Belief in other mountain beings must not cause us to ignore practical possibilities.

I relayed online news about several elders found after disappearing and discussed moshenzai through faith. But I joined none of those searches and did not confirm every detail. Someone reporting a guide differs from proof that moshenzai caused the disappearance.

In my understanding, these beings are not all deliberately harmful, and names and local accounts may differ. Recognizing unfamiliarity and avoiding bravado differs from assuming every forest dangerous after hearing a story.
