A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Is the law of attraction real, and how strongly must I believe in fulfilling wishes?

From my faith and experience, I believe intention activates strength and affects how we act. But fulfilling wishes does not mean thinking once and waiting for results to arrive. Clarify the goal, whether you truly believe in it, and take corresponding action. These aspects need consideration together.

Belief also needs connection with current life. If company raises have historically been small but you demand an immediate doubling, you may not believe it yourself. This example does not mean income cannot grow. It reminds us that a goal far beyond current experience may remain only a wish without any sense of what we can actually do. Short-, medium-, and long-term stages can build experience gradually.

I already had television experience when I later wanted to appear on Yu Mei-ren’s program, and indeed appeared twice. Because I was already accepting media bookings, the goal was believable to me. However, I no longer remember how long realization took and did not visualize every scene in detail then. This is my experience, not a formula guaranteeing an invitation after imagining for a specified time.

I also care whether fear lies within belief. I discussed a middle-aged career-changing client who sought the Bodhisattva’s support and claimed belief, yet immediately feared finding no work. I even said that fearing no job would mean finding none, intending to show which thought truly occupied her. Yet a fellow practitioner at the same gathering described uncertainty over parking, seeking help, trying anyway, and finding a space. Uncertainty about an outcome and continual domination by fear cannot be judged with one identical sentence.

Deadlines likewise need distinction. I warned against repeatedly issuing ultimatums to wishes out of fear that events will not happen. But explaining a project’s existing one-month contract deadline to a deity is different. The point is not merely whether a date is mentioned, but the intention and actual conditions. It cannot become a prohibition on mentioning time in any prayer.

Finally, action remains necessary. Seeking work means exploring opportunities and submitting applications. To make my expertise better known, I also used activities, articles, and sharing to become visible gradually. Faith offers support, and I direct effort toward better preparation. These experiences invite practice in facing goals, not a verdict that anyone facing difficulty has insufficient belief.
