Spiritual Cultivation and Movement
After spiritual awakening, can the original spirit be sealed away again?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
In my understanding, awakened spirituality cannot be treated as an external thing to seal away or remove. I prefer first understanding why practice is currently difficult, what you truly want inwardly and where present life is stuck, then considering balance.
Two comparisons help: a child already born cannot be put back into the womb because of regret. Likewise, someone with memories who wants to forget their pain has no correct, easy means of doing so. An awakened soul follows a similar principle.
I do not consider sealing appropriate because what the soul wants is fundamentally the subconscious, the inner self, the real you. Without following your genuine self and what it wishes to do, energy is incomplete: happiness and abundance are absent and a deficiency remains.
The original spirit is not an unrelated other person. For example, the person recording and speaking now is Shengyuan, with my own spirituality present too. Removing the soul does not leave ordinary life unchanged. So sealing is not, in my view, the right direction for addressing awakened thoughts and feelings.
Some claim people stop spirit movement after being sealed. I have suggested another possibility: if the original movements involved an outside spirit, they could cease when that influence leaves. That differs from an awakened original spirit being sealed again. This is my speculation about such claims. Stopped movement alone cannot prove which situation occurred.
For exceptional circumstances such as a major life shock, I leave room for further understanding. Asked about other teachers’ methods, I said I did not know and remained doubtful despite hearing claims. Some warn against awakening spirits without clear thought, mental preparation or genuine interest in cultivation, saying the soul then remembers who it was and develops wishes, and inability to cooperate causes suffering or spirit pressing the body. My view is that this concerns awakening, not simply whether an activation ritual occurred: souls may awaken without one. The real question is recognising this and cooperating, or trying to seal it away. Our method generally calls it spiritual awakening rather than spirit activation. Those already feeling it should come to know themselves and consider why continuing is difficult, rather than urgently seek someone to suppress their inner selves.
