Deities and Faith
Why do some receive clear guidance while others must explore for themselves?

Deities and Buddhas guide according to each person's circumstances. Some need a clear reminder before willingly trying a step forward. Others gradually understand and learn through exploring for themselves.
Dao Xuan described being more passive originally, without deciding on a particular level of attainment or a goal of becoming a diviner. Several divine reminders later encouraged student membership, divination study, and service at outside locations. This is Dao Xuan's reflection on that period.
My process differed. In early years, deities often did not explain things beforehand but let me explore. Small discoveries and growth felt interesting and encouraged further inquiry. Dao Xing, YOYO, and Dao Shun also interact differently with deities. I therefore feel guidance uses approaches suited to each person.
Even with guidance, learning remains yours. After encouragement, Dao Xuan still attended class, reviewed at home, memorized, and practiced before serving outside. Becoming a student likewise requires actual learning and willingness to spend time. Status does not automatically bring wisdom.
