Spiritual Cultivation and Movement
Why might I still feel heavy or tearful after practicing for some time?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
Beginning practice does not mean future distress disappears. When heaviness and tears remain, explore present unhappiness, genuine inner needs, and whether these fit current life.
YOYO described about half a year during the middle of practice when every motorcycle ride home from the center brought tears all the way. This was her own process. It led us to discuss how inadequate communication and coordination between person and spirit can still leave instability after beginning.
Understand coordination first through genuine inner wishes. If the soul wants east and human actions also go east, agreement brings steadiness and fulfillment. Some approach deities, while others enjoy nails, sewing, or helping as doctors. Doing sincerely loved work can also settle spirituality. Understand needs and find arrangements compatible with actual life.
Yet heaviness, tears, and discomfort still need investigation. Similar appearances cannot establish the same problem. We discussed attachment also presenting similarly, with discernment requiring experience. If physically ill, treat illness and care for the body first, giving greater strength for practice later.
Even after settling once, continue noticing yourself. Work may cause unhappiness now, family interactions later, or a need to advance practice. Religious workers close to deities daily may still have unsettled areas. Awareness continues understanding the present self, discovering problems, and facing them.
