A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Yes. Earlier introductions to Sheng Zhen Men’s Ghost Festival offerings discussed participation by household and overseas addresses. Preparing offerings outside your own doorway is not the only way to join. Registration and arrangements still depend on the particular ceremony.

A household registration includes that home’s family in blessings and merit dedication. We also hoped divine and troop assistance would let nearby wandering spirits receive offerings. That was our religious method then, not a warning that failing to worship at home necessarily causes trouble.

Dao Xuan asked whether relatives working in America or elsewhere could register foreign addresses. I said yes and mentioned tablet arrangements. In our faith, connection is not limited to physical travel distance. Yet registration formats and ritual steps not fully explained originally cannot be invented.

Sponsorship gives resources and offerings to beings with affinity and dedicates blessings to family. The program also described inviting wandering spirits to a meal while accumulating unseen merit and blessings of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and giving. Earlier costs and packages belonged to that period. Understand the intention and participate according to the event and your means.
