Spiritual Cultivation and Movement
How do Sheng Zhen Men’s spirituality and spirit-led movement courses differ?

Begin with self-understanding and bodily practice, while recognizing these are connected rather than separate cultivation. Dao Shan understood spirituality courses as facing and seeing herself. Believing she already knew herself, she discovered more daily through learning and grew clearer about her direction.
She understood movement courses as body work, qi training, and moving exercises. Considering herself poor at sport and hindered in physical activity, she received patient guidance through simple exercises, seated qi practice, beginning spirit-led movement, and gradual familiarity. She felt physically and mentally better. That was gradually accumulated learning experience, not an identical effect for everyone.
Our classes discuss not only Buddhism and Taoism but the inner life, universe, energy, and experiences with other faiths. I believe East and West offer opportunities for exchange and learning, not that I understand everything. Dao Shan’s two course categories describe learning then and show cultivation combining inward understanding and bodily practice to find a personal path.
