A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. If you have questions, you are welcome to discuss them.

Not necessarily. Sensitivity may make contact with and understanding of spiritual matters easier, and learning faster. But learning is still necessary. Strong perceptions alone do not establish better practice. Greater sensitivity can sometimes require even more attention to thoughts and direction.

I compare it to driving. Fast and slow cars can reach the same place, with the fast car arriving earlier. But speed may also make potholes and rocks more likely to throw it off course. In practice, speed cannot replace attention to understanding and methods.

Like a monk devoted to sweeping, taking simple tasks seriously can bring gains. Intelligence and sensitivity cannot replace solid practice. After an experience, continue learning, accept guidance, and avoid rushing to prove your ability. That makes straying less likely.
