A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. Not necessarily. Consider the baby’s age, bond with the elder, and circumstances. For a very young baby never held by the grandmother, with little shared time, I tend to advise avoiding funeral settings if family accepts. That considers infant condition through tradition and religious energy.

The original question came through a practitioner from a friend whose grandmother had already died. I separately offered the example of a loving grandmother wishing to see her grandchild before death. Those feelings differ, and taboos need not block that intention.

In our faith, funeral settings may involve different energies; the loving relative is not deliberately harming the child. Avoidable occasions can be avoided, while deep affection requires family feelings and actual conditions together, not one answer for every home.

Parents have also asked about children sleeping poorly or reporting unseen sights after outings, funerals, or other places. Those requests inform environmental discussion. Decisions about a baby’s visit therefore include the child’s state and surroundings, beyond kinship alone.
