A note before reading

This library is based on Master Shengyuan’s personal experiences and reflections on spiritual practice. They may not apply to everyone’s circumstances. It is important to distinguish everyday life from spiritual practice, and science from metaphysical beliefs. Use your own judgment and read with care. Begin by being willing to see anger, fear, and the parts you avoid, rather than pretend they do not exist. Suppression and silence do not make a problem disappear. Having emotions also does not immediately mean spiritual attachment or being bad. Understand where you were hurt and what remains difficult to release.

I met a mother who hit her child whenever unhappy. Exploring her background revealed a family that favored boys, where her father often beat her without reason after drinking and she had to hide. As a mother, her untransformed emotion fell onto her child. I used negative energy continuing across generations to describe that cycle and encourage acknowledgment and change. I did not mean that everyone who has experienced violence will become violent.

Practitioners also shared observations of relatives and friends abused in childhood who later experienced prolonged suppression and fear of marriage or relationships. Casual male-female proportions mentioned on the program were not verified and cannot be statistics. Nor can gender predetermine who will submit. Understanding origins and managing emotion aim to reduce harm, not excuse violence.

Even a correct aim does not make every method correct. Believing another person wrong does not justify violence, humiliation, or provocation. More conflict may also make you increasingly unsettled. Stepping back and avoiding direct confrontation is not necessarily inability; it may mean recognizing that unnecessary entanglements can be avoided.

Explain matters clearly, correct your own mistakes, and seek support when needed. Other people's accidents cannot simply be attributed to longstanding negative thoughts; many conditions remain unknown. Discussing energy reminds us not to add harm, rather than blame those already distressed. Willingness to face matters creates a chance for gradual transformation.

Honesty also means recognizing your good qualities. Continue good actions, and be willing to see and correct the bad ones, instead of preserving only an outwardly bright image. Frankness still needs boundaries, since excessive bluntness can hurt. Do not deceive yourself inwardly, but learn to express things understandably rather than throw out every thought.

Repeated lies to conceal wrongdoing make facing it harder. Repentance means stopping concealment, recognizing the mistake, apologizing willingly, and admitting that adjustment remains necessary. In my understanding of practice, this transforms inner darkness rather than maintains an appearance of never having made mistakes.
