Starting Spiritual Practice
Why do I advise against constantly fighting a demonic test?
English translation draft · Based on the Chinese article. This is not a word-for-word translation approved by Master Shengyuan.
Constant struggle with interference stops the original work. I compare climbing while someone pulls from below: fighting backward can make you forget the destination. After noticing influence, return strength to what needs doing.
I asked Kṣitigarbha for guidance and received a reminder not to keep attending to it, but continue my practice. This is my religious experience. If the wish is to help beings, keep working toward it through sincere recitation, meditation, training, and outlook adjustments. Do not let interference drive emotional fluctuations and pull you down.
Conscious awareness is essential. Are you unusually irritated, impatient, or drawn by a negative thought? I also use negative emotions symbolically for demonic strength to prompt self-awareness. This does not mean every unhappiness involves an outside demon.
The same passage recognized exhaustion as a possible cause needing rest and sleep. Continued diligence must care for body and outlook. Positive action differs from ignoring problems and forcing endurance.
A driving horn illustrates this. Attend if it signals a green light or safety. Ignoring negativity cannot mean ignoring necessary caution. If someone only wants an argument, do not add your emotions; continue safely toward your destination.
I initially repeated that such tests concern practitioners, then reflected that ordinary people also act harmfully through anger and corrected myself. Labels should not obscure the point: notice provocation and avoid retaliation that abandons original duties and safety.
